VIVIER MORTGAGES LIMITED “VML” AND LUIGI WEWEGE MEDIA STATEMENT

DUBLIN, IRELAND, February 24, 2015 — /EPR MEDIA NEWS/ — Over the past few months VML was contacted by Mr Conor Ryan and other reporters working on a programme for RTE, the Irish broadcaster.

It soon became clear that a number of untrue and defamatory allegations – about VML and persons formerly or currently connected with it – would be made in the programme and had already been made to third parties. After VML clearly outlined the correct position to RTE, its lawyers confirmed that the programme and/or its reporting would be “fair and balanced”, “fair, impartial and objective”, “fair to all interests concerned”, “fair and accurate”, “broadcast in good faith” and contain “nothing misleading, unsavoury or malicious” nor any “distortions or untruths”. VML was further assured by RTE’s lawyers that it “adheres to high standards of journalistic ethics” and follows “proper journalistic standards”.

Unfortunately, this did not happen: despite withdrawing many of the untrue and defamatory allegations, when broadcasting its programme on 5th February, RTE retained a number of others.

Accordingly, on 13th February 2015, following the advice of Senior and Junior Counsel, VML issued proceedings against RTE and Mr Ryan. The proceedings are for defamation, procuring a breach of confidence, malicious falsehood and other wrongs, for which aggravated and exemplary damages are sought. It is expected that other parties will issue similar proceedings in the English High Court.

The true position, as previously stated to but ignored by RTE, is as follows:
• In 2004, VML effectively came under the control of the British Government.
• In 2011, VML was sold by the British Government to an English private company.
• In 2014, VML was sold by that English company to its present owner.
• The beneficial owners of VML’s shares and debt are those appearing on the public register.
• VML’s current owner and directors are entirely distinct from the previous owners and directors.

The Republicans rush to derail the Metra’s $141 million Englewood Flyover Project hasn’t deterred the supporters of Don Peloquin; they’re climbing aboard his “Time For Change” campaign like a freight train.

Well know n for his hands on “let’s get this going attitude” and 25 productive years as mayor of Blue Island IL., the people of the newly redistricted 1 st Congressional District are rushing to get Bobby out. They’re not forgetful of how Don helped elect the first Hispanic and Afro-American Alderman for the city of Blue Island and they don’t want the Chicago City Politicians in charge of their districts destiny.

The most significant increase in Don’s voter support have been from many of those who are now affected by the redistricting. Many didn’t even realize the impact of it until Don woke them up with his “Unless you want all for Chicago and nothing for the suburbs and our rural areas, you’d had better get out and vote for a change. This rush to get Bobby out is more of a community need than a party vote.

New to the 1 st district, Will County residents are waking up fast and have become a large voice for the Don Peloquin “Time For Change” campaign. They don’t call it Insight, it’s hindsight, either way you slice it, being controlled by the “tentacles of Cook County politics” has never benefitted the suburban and rural areas, it’s like being robbed of our rights to live outside of the city. They even wrote and signed their own “Declaration of Independence” a Grass Roots “We The People” approach to nothing less than inciting a large scale riot in the Burbs in order to affect change.

The buzz and the chatter in some of the most highly read online communities likepatch.com is really heating up, and these pro Don Peloquin “Time For Change” discussions have taken on a flavor with some spice, like “Caliente”, it’s that hot.

I rather be a dog

Any time soon, this young 24 yrs old Malaysian boy, convicted of drug trafficking, will be hang till death do him part by an unidentified Mr. Hangman in Changi Prison, Friday morning @ 6 am sharp.

If no one comes to his rescue soon, he’ll definitely and surely be under water very soon!

Supposing we see someone drowning like this, will we immediately dive in and rescue him from near death? Or will we ask questions first before we can help rescue him, questions like, “Who is he?”, “How come he’s in the water?”, “Did he fell into the water or was he pushed in?, “Is he rich or poor?”, “Where is he from? He looks like he’s not from this region.”, “Maybe he’s a ex-criminal wanting to commit suicide? Must have done a lot of bad thing in his life one la. That’s why this is call ‘retribution’ la. Ah… just let him drown la. He deserves it one la. Don’t care for him la. Just let him die la.”

Huh?

I don’t get it. People saved a dog but they won’t save a fellow human being from near death! Strange. So does that means that the dog’s life are more precious than human beings’ life?

If it is, than I rather be a dog then. At least I’m assured that I’ll be rescued and loved by human beings, unlike them human beings who weren’t rescue their own human beings. We dogs saves dogs you know.

Duh…

1,127 Buddhism Tudongha Monks in Thailand

These eye-opening pictures have been happening for 12 consecutive days in Thailand. The starting date was on Jan 2, 2012 and it has been going on until today, Jan 13.  It will continue on until Jan 25, 2012 which is the last day of this special activity. Normally, Tudongha in Buddhism involves the discipline of detaching from materials as they are in order to free the mind from defilements.

buddhism7.jpg (216×145)

This is because of the peaceful temperament of the monks who have practiced their mind very well.  This enables the Buddhists to touch the real core of Buddhism by watching the monks doing their Tudongha. The monks and the people intend to walk the various routes that cover 6 provinces in order to pay homage to the 6 significant places that their Great Master used to stay. Although the monks are walking from province to province instead of walking in the forest, they still have to practice their mind. This is the first time in history of Buddhism that 1,127 Theravada monks are doing Tudongha in unison for the distance of 365 km.  It will take them 24 days to walk on the path strewn with rose petals and with local people waiting along the path saying “Sadhu” to express their joy in seeing the monks doing this Tudongha on the entire route. What inspires a large number of people to carry out this activity continuously for a long time in strong heat of the afternoon sun?  These people never give up their intention even though they have to wait on the rugged roads and lack various means of comfort. They never neglect their participation even for a short time.

As of today, the 1,127 Tudongha monks have walked through 2 places which are in Song Pi-Nong District, Suphanburi Province. These places are: 1. Phra Mongkolthepmuni Memorial which is the place where The Great Master was born, and 2. Song Pi-Nong Temple where The Great Master ordained.Today, all 1,127 Tudongha monks are coming to the third important place which is Boadbon Temple, Bangkuvieng, Nonthaburi Province where The Great Master attained Dhammakaya.

The monks have walked 150 km. already and they have to walk the remaining of 215 km. in 12 more days and that will be the end of this Tudongha.  We can say that this had never happened before in history.  What will happen next?  Let us continue in the next episode. The Co-operative Magazine releases results of latest online poll

The Co-operative Magazine has revealed the result of its latest web-based poll, which asked readers ‘how much of your weekly shop goes in the bin?’

Of those magazine readers who took part in the survey, 61 per cent stated that less than 10 per cent of products from their weekly food shop go in the bin. This is contrary to the national findings, which suggest that the majority of households in the UK waste around a quarter (25 per cent) of their food each week.

“These results suggest that our readers are shrewder and less wasteful than the national average,” said Jeanette Franks, editor of the magazine.

“With tips on how to cut your weekly shopping bill and features on how to make delicious meals using leftovers, our readers have the information they need to ensure that they only buy what they need and they therefore end up using the majority of it each week. We encourage people to shop more frequently and only buy the items they need, rather than doing a big weekly shop which inevitably leads to wasted food and money,” Franks added.

Other related articles and features in The Co-operative Magazine include: A Quick Guide to Recycling in the Home, and Waste Not Want Not, both in the ethical living section, as well as low-fat meal ideas and tips for how to keep the kids health and happy.

The Co-operative Urges Consumers to Join The Revolution

The Co-operative today (7 March) launched a major new communications programme calling upon consumers to “join the revolution” and help secure a more balanced and sustainable future for the UK.

The call to “join the revolution” will be underpinned by a high profile TV, press and social media campaign that will provide guidance on how people can set up their own co-operative businesses, fund community projects, campaign for change or simply purchase ethical products and services, such as Fairtrade products and ethical investments.

The media campaign will showcase everyday people who, with help from The Co-operative, are instigating real change – everything from community owned wind-turbines to fan-owned football clubs, from urban beekeeping to young film-maker co-operatives.

Peter Marks, Group Chief Executive of The Co-operative said: “Until the 1980s people understood the benefits of mutual ownership, but then the UK’s family silver was sold-off cheaply in a wave of demutualisation that weakened the influence that ordinary consumers could have on our economy.

“We are beginning to see momentum again at grassroots level, where the Co-operative Enterprise Hub is helping new co-operative businesses set up at a rate of more than one a day, but the opportunity is much bigger than that. Co-operatives alone are not a panacea, but sitting alongside other business and service models, they can help address the unprecedented social, economic and environmental challenges facing the country”.

The TV commercial, which airs for the first time on Monday 7 March, tells how the Rochdale Pioneers, who established the first successful retail co-operative in 1844, started a revolution which is still going strong. The Co-operative now has more than 5,000 stores across the UK and there are almost a billion co-operative members worldwide.

Today, The Co-operative is itself enjoying a strong economic renaissance, which has seen it double revenues, double profits and double membership over the past three years.

The campaign supports the Group’s recently launched Ethical Plan, which sets out a number of revolutionary goals that aim to cement its reputation as the most socially responsible business in the UK.

The pledges in the Ethical Plan include:
• Growing membership from 6m to 20m by 2020, with the aim of making every customer a co-owner.
• The most radical Fairtrade conversion programme ever undertaken.
• £11m to support co-operative growth, and the launch of a £20m international Co-operative Development Loan Fund.
• Doubling financial support for renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, from £400m to £1bn by 2013.
• The world’s first ethically-screened general insurance products, which will support over two million policies.

“This has been an eventful year for the European business community. While some might have focused on pessimistic economic forecasts, our winners have chosen to respond with a blend of inventiveness and industry that has defied the downturn,” said Adrian Tripp, Chief Executive of the European Business Awards.

“Clearly it is not all doom and gloom out there. Despite challenging trading conditions, the European Community is home to a raft of small, medium and large business success stories.”

With a combined turnover of €573billion, the 2009 Ruban d’Honneur winners seem set to buck the economic trend. According to statistics gathered by the European Business Awards, this year’s nominees recorded an average annual profit growth of 56%.

“These awards revolve around business success, entrepreneurialism, innovation and ethics – all concepts we strongly believe in promoting. This year’s entrants have demonstrated to us that the European business scene is still very much alive,” said Isidoro Unda, CEO of leading global credit insurer Atradius.

B.G. Srinivas, Senior Vice President and Member of Executive Council at Infosys, a global leader in the next generation of IT and consulting services, added: “The quality of entries this year despite the economic backdrop, have demonstrated a business environment in Europe that fosters talent management, gritty commercialisation and agility, that have enabled organisations to execute existing projects and in some cases completely re-engineer their business models for success.”

All ninety-nine Ruban d’Honneur recipients must now prepare to appear before a second judging panel of highly regarded academics, heads of state, industrialists, entrepreneurs and media commentators drawn from across the 27 member European States. The interviews will take place over two weeks between January and February 2009 at Atradius’ offices in Rome and the overall winners in each of ten categories will be announced at the Awards ceremony in Rome on 7th April 2009, in front of Europe’s top business leaders, politicians and media.

“The standard of entries is very high this year proving that European business is still very active and prospering. There are some remarkable companies in the running and choosing the overall winners from the final shortlist of ninety-nine is going to be an extremely difficult task for the judging panels,” said Jean Stephens, CEO of RSM International, one of the worlds largest auditing and consulting networks.

David Hardy, International Sales and Marketing Director at bigmouthmedia, Europe’s largest independent digital marketing agency, added: “This promises to be an exciting year for many companies. The new winners’ list is packed with success stories from organisations of all sizes, and it is clear that European business still has a lot to shout out about.”
