‘Happy Hour’, The New Book By NYC Author David S. Grant Is Now Available

Happy Hour is a life in the day of Will and Sara. They are having guests over for a dinner party disguised as a Happy Hour. One of the guests, Jack, is on the verge of rock stardom if only if lifestyle will allow such success. Josh and Katherine are dealing with a past of children, a stressed marriage, and prison time.

The story begins with preparation then takes us to Jack and his guest as they enjoy pre-dinner cocktails while trolling for women in all of the wrong places. After a dinner (that entails more drinking than eating) tragedy finds some of the guests and the answer to the underlying question “How many people are needed to be considered an orgy?” is answered.

Happy Hour is a story of scary conversation and remembering a past that maybe better forgotten. The only constants are surprise announcements and the flow of vodka in this tale of an evening in Manhattan.

“Stuck somewhere between J.D. Salinger, Chuck Palahniuk and Bret Easton Ellis, author David S. Grant delves into the life of a modern misanthrope whose drug usage would make Hunter S. Thompson envious. David S. Grant is an author to watch. He could easily become the next Chuck Palahniuk with his fragmented style and stream of consciousness writing. ” -Stefan Halley, Pop Syndicate.

Joanne Wannan Announces Contest To Give Away 15% Of The Profits From Her Book Sales To A Shelter Or Animal Organization

Author Joanne Wannan, writing at, announces contest to inspire and encourage animal lovers everywhere.

It would be very difficult to find many people who have not felt the affects of the current global recession. The financial woes of big business and government typically dominate the headlines. However, they are not the only ones having to struggle through this new economy.

Wannan is the author of NEW LIVES: Stories of Rescued Dogs Helping, Healing and Giving Hope. “During the process of writing New Lives I became aware of numerous animal shelters and other organizations who are really struggling right now due to the slow economy. It’s really the small shelters and organizations that are have been affected the most,” says Wannan.

Unfortunately, not only are many shelters facing budget cuts, but they are also seeing an increase in the number of animals they are required to care for.

“We’re also seeing more animals dumped on our properties. People have been leaving dogs in runs, walking through the doors and just leaving animals in the lobby, leaving cats in bags outside our doors — that’s something that’s happening a lot at all our adoption centers. It was happening before, but not at the rate it’s happening now,” says Brian Adams spokesperson for Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

“I want to help raise awareness for pet adoption and rescue,” says Wannan. “I want to encourage others to get involved and share their adoption stories. Hearing peoples’ adoption stories will inspire and encourage others to learn more about animal adoption and rescue.”

Wannan launched a simple contest on her blog on February 3, 2010. The contest offers huge incentives for people to create a short video explaining their pet adoption or rescue story. There are over $1,000 worth of prizes for a lucky pet owner and their special canine. These include a custom pet portrait by renowned artist Deborah Burdin of, a Kuranda pet bed from, a sterling silver charm from, and much more.

The Evolutionary Glitch describes the phenomena of the “Persona,” a neural mechanism that creates life problems in order to perpetuate itself. Six Persona “types” are identified from which readers can recognize one as their own and/or become familiar with the thinking patterns of others. Garoli then provides a series of practical techniques which can be used to re-train the brain’s neural pathways and regain control of the mind’s abilities. Drawing on the latest discoveries in quantum physics as well as ancient traditions and philosophies, The Evolutionary Glitch presents groundbreaking information about the human condition.
